What does a busy month look like in frontier EMS?It’s not always about how many calls come in. It’s about how long each one keeps an ambulance committed, how far crews may have to travel, and what happens when another emergency occurs while that unit is still tied up.In South Park, a single call can mean a long response, an extended scene, transport outside the county, and then a lengthy trip back into the district. When multiple calls happen at once, ambulances may have to move between response areas to maintain coverage across a very large service area. That’s why statistics like transport destination, call duration, and cross-coverage matter just as much as total call volume. This snapshot is a look at what September required from our crews, our ambulances, and the system as a whole. ...

Winter apparently didn’t feel like waiting this year. ❄️🏔️With snow already covering many of the peaks around Park County, South Park Ambulance District crews have been using the fall weather to make sure we’re ready for the season ahead. Our crews have been training on rope rescue systems, equipment, and safe operations in the steep and difficult terrain found throughout our district. When a patient is somewhere an ambulance simply can’t reach, these skills help us safely get rescuers in, provide care, and get the patient out.In South Park, winter weather, rugged terrain, and remote locations are part of the job, and preparation starts well before the call comes in. ...

First Aid Friday! As fall and cooler weather quickly approach, we'd like to send out a reminder about carbon monoxide (CO). As we begin using furnaces, space heaters, fireplaces, generators, and other fuel/wood-burning appliances more frequently, it's important to make sure your CO detectors are working properly (with fresh batteries) and your heating equipment is inspected and maintained. Know the signs of CO poisoning, which can include headaches, dizziness, nausea, and confusion. If you or someone else begins experiencing symptoms, open windows if you can do so safely, get outside into fresh air immediately, and call 911. Stay safe this fall, and remember that a few simple precautions can help protect you and your loved ones! 🚑 ...

Built for the job. 💪🚑Over the past several weeks, our crews have been working to build out and standardize gym spaces across South Park Ambulance District stations. The goal is to give our providers consistent access to equipment that supports strength, conditioning, mobility, and overall wellness while on shift. EMS is a physically demanding job, and having dedicated fitness spaces at each station is another way we can support our crews and help them stay ready for the work. Each station is being equipped with a similar core setup, including equipment from Mikolo, Rogue, Bowflex, Concept2, and others, so crews have access to a familiar space no matter which station they’re working from.A huge thank you to the crews who helped plan, move, assemble, organize, and set everything up. A lot of work went into getting these spaces ready, and we appreciate everyone who helped make it happen. We’re excited to see them put to good use. 💪 ...
